DUI/Causing Injury/Resisting Police - Charges Reduced to DUI

San Mateo County client was arrested on felony charges for driving at a high rate of speed on the freeway while under the influence of alcohol and slammed into the back of another car that was stopped in traffic. Client was charged with violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23153 (A) and (B) – (driving under the influence of alcohol and causing bodily injury) and California Penal Code Section 148 (A) (1) – (resisting, delaying or obstructing a Peace Officer). Despite injuries to the victim and a blood alcohol content of .18%, we were able to get charges reduced to a simple DUI (Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) and client did not have to serve any jail time.

ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY

“The death penalty is a lie, a misguided mistake born of anger and frustration. Capital punishment has become a perverse monument to inequality, to how some lives matter and others do not. It is a violent example of how we protect and value the rich and abandon and devalue the poor. The death penalty is a grim, disturbing shadow formed by the legacy of racial apartheid and bias against the poor that condemns the disfavored among us, but corrupts us all. It’s the perverse symbol elected officials use to strengthen their ‘tough on crime’ reputations and distract us from confronting the causes of violence. It is finally the enemy of grace, redemption and all of us who recognize that each person is more than their worse act.”
