San Francisco Client was Speeding and Charged with Second Offense DUI, After Agressive Negotiations Client Plead to Only a 1st Offense DUI

July 2016

In San Francisco County, client was observed by CHP speeding across the Oakland / San Francisco Bay Bridge at 100 mph and was later stopped by the San Francisco Police Department after colliding into the wall of the off-ramp.  Client's blood alcohol level was almost two times the legal limit.  After lengthy and aggressive negotiations with the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and consultations with client's immigration attorney, client was able to plead to only a 1st Offense DUI despite the fact that he had a prior DUI conviction in 2008 as well as a prior felony conviction for possession of narcotics.  Client was sentenced to only credit for time served.

ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY

“The death penalty is a lie, a misguided mistake born of anger and frustration. Capital punishment has become a perverse monument to inequality, to how some lives matter and others do not. It is a violent example of how we protect and value the rich and abandon and devalue the poor. The death penalty is a grim, disturbing shadow formed by the legacy of racial apartheid and bias against the poor that condemns the disfavored among us, but corrupts us all. It’s the perverse symbol elected officials use to strengthen their ‘tough on crime’ reputations and distract us from confronting the causes of violence. It is finally the enemy of grace, redemption and all of us who recognize that each person is more than their worse act.”
