A Northern California orthopedic surgeon is fighting to keep his license after the California Medical Board last week accused him of sexually harassing two of his workers' compensation patients.Dr. John David Walbritton III
Dr. John David Warbritton III is also facing felony criminal charges in federal trial court for allegedly transporting child pornography.
A grand jury indicted the doctor in October, but the matter was kept under seal at the request of prosecutors. U.S. District Court Judge Charles Breyer unsealed the record in the case on the day before Thanksgiving.
The criminal indictment against Warbritton alleges that he violated federal law by knowingly transporting child pornography, and it demands the forfeiture of his laptop computer and iPhone. The indictment provides no other details about the case.
Seth Chazin is representing Warbritton in the criminal case. He said Wednesday that he and his client had been aware that the Medical Board might file an administrative complaint, and that they "strongly deny the allegations contained in that accusation."
With regard to the criminal case, Chazin said, it's "still in an early stage" and the parties are still conducting discovery. He added that Warbritton is also "innocent until proven otherwise."
